OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Susan Greenstein, President and Secretary. Susan teaches at Lyndon State College in Lyndonville, Vermont. Her connection with the Samia region is of more than forty years' standing and began with a tour as a Peace Corps teacher at Sigalame Secondary School. In addition to teaching positions at Western Washington University and St. Mary’s College of Maryland, Susan was the founding director of the Honors Program at Paine College in Augusta, Georgia and a Program Officer for the National Endowment for the Humanities. She holds a Ph.D. in English and African literatures and has remained committed to the improvement of living conditions in western Kenya – especially for women.
Kevin Brown, Vice-President. Kevin works for the U.S. State Department in the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs focused on the Caribbean and Central America. He taught as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Central Province of Kenya and has served in the U.S. Embassy in Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He holds a Masters Degree in African Studies from Indiana University.
Kathleen Waldron, Treasurer. Kathy is President of William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey. She is an expert in Latin American affairs and has taught at Bowdoin College and served as Vice-President in the Private Bank division of Citibank. She has also been Dean of the Business School at Long Island University’s Brooklyn Campus and President of Baruch College of the City University of New York. Kathy has been active in a number of organizations promoting the welfare of women in the United States and around the world. She holds a Ph.D. in Latin American History.
